Where are you located and what service/products do you offer?
Our favourite part of every wedding is enjoying all the little moments on the lead up to the big day. However what most people find difficult is the gifting part.
When our friends got engaged we couldn't find anything meaningful and personal on the high street. We wanted something beautiful, thoughtful and luxurious to celebrate our friendships that would keep their sparkle long past the wedding day.
That’s why we launched Hanson & Hopewell. To make gifting stylish and personal, as well as tell a unique story. We've uncovered hidden gems from the best independent makers in the UK to help the wedding party celebrate all of the key occasions in their bride's wedding journey from engagement gifts, hen party presents and wedding boxes for the morning of the wedding. We both create and curate incredible gifts from custom designed wedding journals, handmade organic beauty products and gorgeous confetti pops filled with pure Shropshire petals - giving your bride all the little luxuries she needs on the lead up to the big day as well as freeing you up to help solve all those pre-wedding jitters!
We also help the bride gift for all of her wedding party from that all important gift for the groom on the wedding morning to creating that special something for your mum who’s helped with all the planning too. For us it’s all about celebrating our closest relationships with the ones we love at the most magical moments of their lives!
We have two studios where we create and curate our products, one in Sevenoaks and one in Guildford, so we have the luxury of a local presence in the communities where we live, together with a nationwide presence through our stockists too.
How long have you been involved in the industry?
We’re relatively new to working in the wedding industry, however having both been recently married ourselves and having been a bridesmaid 9 times between us, we have the best first-hand experience you could buy of ensuring your personalities shine through both gifting and wedding experiences! It’s one of the reasons we started, because we knew we could offer something different in the industry.
What planning advice would you give to couples?
Our backgrounds are both as Marketing and Event professionals, so we know imagery, styling and most of all how to plan the biggest event you’ll ever organise! In terms of planning, it’s part using the right tools (get started on those spreadsheets as soon as possible!) and also about taking a breather, some you time, to take that step back to reflect and see the big picture. This is going to be the best day of your life! Don’t let the wedmin can get the better of you, or if it does our Wedmin ‘N’ Chill gift box is perfect to allow you to escape and get back planning!
Have you got any trend tips for couples planning their own wedding?
Yes, we’ll hold our hands up. We’re completely obsessed with Pinterest. It truly is the perfect platform to gather all of your wedding inspo. Whilst trends are extremely helpful in understanding what you like and how to narrow down your scope, we’re actually big believers in creating an experience that is all about you as a couple. Everyone in the room has come together to celebrate you and your relationship. So bring out your individual passions, your loves and what brought you together in the first place and let your quirks and personalities shine through in the detail.
Have any weddings you attended left a lasting impression and why?
We’ve both been fortunate enough to go to some amazing weddings across the world, and whilst venue does make an impact, it’s all about how you personalise the experience to make it your own. Lasting moments for us include opening Christmas Cards to see the order of the day at December wedding, seeing the bride’s personalised veil float in the breeze on an isolated beach in Thailand, to watching the bride whizz down Lake Como in a speedboat and even watching a couple tie the knot in a tiny chapel on the slopes in the Alps. Wow, that is certainly a trip down memory lane. Whether it’s about scrapping favours to replace with board game centrepieces or having a doughnut tower as your cake, the moments that are your own, make it you, and those are what guests remember.
