Where are you located and what service/products do you offer?
We are located to the North of Bradford and set within the University’s Faculty of Management and Law. We have a beautiful 19th Century mansion, once a home to a prevalent mill owner in the area. The mansion sits within its own private gardens, with a long winding driveway, both inside and outside are very picturesque. We offer exclusive use and hold a civil licence for marriage ceremonies and the house can seat up to 80 for a sit down meal and 150 for a wedding reception, in addition the croquet lawn can house a marquee for up to 200 guests. We also have 42 “boutique hotel style” en-suite double bedrooms on site.
How long have you been involved in the industry?
We have been actively hiring out the space for 6 years now.
What planning advice would you give to couples?
Do what you want, it’s your day. Obviously we all take advise from well-meaning friends and relatives but ultimately it’s your event and your shot at organising the day of your dreams!
Have you got any trend tips for couples planning their own wedding?
We are still seeing a vintage theme coming through in our weddings and it does fit the venue perfectly. Lace and tulle chair bows seem to be a big thing latterly, and look stunning!
Have any weddings you attended left a lasting impression and why?
I attending a beautiful wedding in a castle in Dublin about 10 years ago, it was a very different wedding with stunning backdrop. The couple were not afraid to express their personality through the event, there were lovely personal touches everywhere from handmade favours to nods to family who could not share their day with a “gone but not forgotten” table. Of course there was also plenty of nice food and wine, not to mention a Guinness toast!!
